manaaki flagship store Interior Design
Less shopfront, more living room of the coolest guy you know.
Manaaki’s flagship store in Matakana is equal parts wardrobe, historic archive, and hangout—woven from antique and vintage finds, designer Kat Tua’s family toanga, and the kaupapa of manākitanga. The brief was to create a retail space that feels rooted in Aotearoa New Zealand, while still being sharp enough to hold its own as a global brand.
We imagined the layout for flow and storytelling, anchored the space with a sweeping cloak-like fabric curtain and pounamu-toned shelving, and layered in objects that feel collected over a lifetime—heirlooms beside op-shop treasures. The result is a store that doesn’t just sell clothes; it invites you into the world of Manaaki, with all the warmth and depth that name carries.
