Buffalo Lodge Interior Design

Like a treehouse—if a treehouse had cozy linens and natural wine and cheese nights.

Buffalo Lodge consisted of a gentle renovation of an existing mid-century lodge tucked into the native bush near Coromandel. Part heritage restoration, part boutique hospitality project, the brief called for a complete reimagining of the guest experience—without losing the soul of the original building.

Alongside the interior architecture and design, we consulted on the overall guest experience and operational strategy, helping to shape everything from programming, spatial flow to furniture layout, service zones, and back-of-house functionality.

We reconfigured the layout for better movement, redesigned guest rooms and shared spaces, and introduced custom joinery, vintage pieces, and natural textures throughout. The result is a warm, character-filled hideaway that feels both design-forward and deeply grounded in its gorgeous landscape.
