The bard room interior design

Originally a grand dining room. Briefly a tattoo parlour. Now—back where it belongs.

Once featured as the original Chelsea Apartments dining room in the late 1880s, The Bard Room had since lived many lives—tattoo studio, shipping store, Patti Smith’s performance space, Deedee Ramones’ gallery—before we brought it back to what it always was: a richly detailed, quietly dramatic place to gather.

During the renovation, we peeled back layers of dropped ceilings and drywall to uncover the original skylights, ornate plasterwork, and architectural details long hidden. Those discoveries shaped the entire design. We restored what could be saved, recreated what couldn’t, and reimagined the layout for modern hospitality—adding warmth, flow, and a cinematic sense of calm.

Now, it’s once again a room made for weddings, parties, and everything in between.
